Groupon Employee Spotlight:
Margaux Morgat
Employee Spotlight | November, 2023
Explore our spotlight interview with special focus on GOODS team member Margaux Morgat,
Senior Vendor Manager in France.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Groupon.
I am Senior Vendor Manager in EMEA GOODS based in France, Paris, into a team of 5 amazing members, my manager Charlotte and my 3 colleagues : Sixtine, Dmitri and Tobias.
On a personal note, I am a mother of two children, Sophie, 3 years old, and Léonard, 6 months old. I have also been married for 4.5 years to my high school sweetheart—embracing my French romantic side 🥰
How did you get started in your career, and what brought you to Groupon?
I started my career as a tax lawyer. The way I practiced a subject I had enjoyed during my studies did not please me. Feeling a bit lost, I tried not to listen too much to the expectations my loved ones had for me. My husband and I went on a world tour, which allowed me to take a step back and reflect on what I really wanted. Having earned a dual degree in law and business, I shifted towards a more commercial profession with interpersonal contact. I also wanted to be part of a supportive team and a healthy work environment, which I found at Groupon.
What's the most exciting thing happening in your department right now?
Everything is changing a lot and fast. Trying things out quickly and seeing direct results is exciting.
Describe your team in three words.
Funny, Spontaneous, Different.
What's a fun or interesting way your team collaborates or bonds together?
We take time to have lunch together (very French, indeed). We discuss many topics other than work and laugh a lot. We are all very spontaneous, we listen to each other and help each other according to our strengths.
Share a memorable moment, project or event from your time at Groupon.
Our team went through a challenging restructuring that presented various difficulties. We had to rebuild everything and re-onboard suppliers to restore confidence in Groupon. The efforts have paid off, as today we are the second-largest country in EMEA.
What's the best piece of advice you've received from a colleague at Groupon?
Work always pays off.
How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
I always try to have energy for everyone and every cause! Making the most out of every moment that's given to us to do something meaningful. Life is short (it's cliché but so true). I want my husband, myself, and my children to aim high, and I hope to pass on this positivity to those around me :). For that, I strive to be super efficient during the day and organize both my personal and professional life, aiming to manage my time effectively.
Can you share any tips for staying productive and motivated?
Not having regrets is great. So, might as well give it your all and then decide based on the results!
