Tell us about your job! What do you do?
As a Market Planner, I’m responsible for reviewing, approving and optimizing Travel Deals for the US Market. I help our sales department assign the right supply to match our customer demand. I love my team’s focus on how we can deliver the best possible deals to our customers. I learn new things about the business and the market every day.
What was your first impression of Groupon?
I thought it was a big company and a great place to work! There’s a friendly and enjoyable working atmosphere here. People are very professional and connect with Groupon’s values.
What was your first role and how did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been working with Groupon for nearly 9 years now! I joined Groupon Morocco in 2013 as a Client Service Representative. I really enjoyed my time learning, being challenged and getting better at what I do. I got promoted to Strategic City Planner, where I was responsible for all local deals that are run on Groupon for a certain geographical area. I then relocated from Casablanca to Warsaw to work with the Partner Management Team on the booking tool for EMEA, Australia and New Zealand. Quite a journey, eh?
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by the color green. For me, it is not just a color! It’s the symbol of ecology, nature, energy and life. It’s traditionally associated with meanings of growth, safety, and ambition. People who have the courage to step out of their comfort zone are also a great inspiration for me. Oprah Winfrey is a great example. She’s arguably the most powerful and influential woman on Earth, whose words have a real impact on the world.
What do you love about your job?
So many things! The diversity of the work is what gets me up in the morning, and I feel lucky that I get to do something that I'm passionate about. I enjoy working with my peers, and we really care about each other outside of work (how we're doing, how we're feeling, and I feel comfortable talking with them about anything). Finally, I love the autonomy I have over my responsibilities, my ability to try new ideas, and that my team believes in me and the expertise that I bring.
What do you miss about being in the office?
I miss the daily routine, but most of all, I miss my co-workers. The daily interactions and seeing everyone around me working is a great motivator for me. I also miss lunch with colleagues and the happy hours after work.
Where were you before you joined Groupon?
I didn’t have any work experience before I started my first job at Groupon, apart from internships I’d completed during my studies. So, I’m very proud to say that I work here. I’m happy to still be a part of the Groupon family after 6 years.
What’s the most interesting thing about you?
I’m a fast learner and can adjust to new situations very quickly. I only realised this about myself after I moved to Warsaw! I also have a very good sense of humor.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I would be a makeup artist! Applying makeup is an art that demands creativity and originality, and I believe it’s something I’m quite good at.
Which groups are you involved with at Groupon?
I’m part of Groupon Volunteering. It’s helped me gain experience, connect to others, and practice important skills used in the workplace, like teamwork, communication and organization. One of my best experiences was when we participated in food collection and distribution.
What’s your favorite local business?
My favorite deal from Groupon was the one I used for dance classes. It was a funny experience and I learned some steps.
Your role probably exists at other companies, so what is it about Groupon that keeps you excited to come to work every day?
So many things! I have to admit that the diversity of work is what keeps me going. Also, Groupon’s values match with my personal values. It’s a great place to work, interact with wonderful minds, and learn new things every single day. I love how my manager consistently believes in me and the expertise I bring to the table. Our team is an interesting bunch of people from different countries and different backgrounds. I love coming to work every day because it’s simply a happy place!
What advice do you have for someone interested in joining Groupon?
I would tell that person to continuously learn, update their skills, and take on challenges at work! Asking for help is certainly not considered a weakness here. Even if you don’t have enough experience, Groupon is going to help you to create a successful career.
