Senior Product Manager, Search

Description

Ready to build products in a truly product-driven company? Are you passionate about using technology to change the world?

Groupon is an experiences marketplace that brings people more ways to get the most out of their city or wherever they may be. By enabling real-time mobile commerce across local businesses, live events and travel destinations, Groupon helps people find and discover experiences--big and small, new and familiar--that make for a full, fun and rewarding life. Groupon helps local businesses grow and strengthen customer relationships--resulting in strong, vibrant communities. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success.

As a Senior Product Manager , you are effectively the liaison within the team, working with designers, developers and senior management to guide projects through to fruition and help our teams build successful products. In this role, you’ll be working on projects that will have a direct impact on large-scale initiatives and be able to see your hard work pay off quickly. You’ll work in a small, independent team and use agile practices - giving you the perfect hybrid between the feel and impact opportunity of a startup, with the assets of a public company.

In this role, you are the senior global product manager for Groupon's onsite Search ML platform, helping to solve complex problems such as optimization of deal ranking, prediction of deal performance, and personalization of deals for a best-in-class onsite search experience for customers by partnering with talented product analysts, data scientists, software engineers, business stakeholders, and global leadership teams. You will build intelligent products that utilize advanced Machine Learning and statistical models for Search & Recommendations, which power 80% of customer journeys on Groupon. You will help define the strategic roadmap and lead successful execution using agile methodologies to drive product development and large-scale initiatives for Groupon.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

What we are looking for:

  • Delivery Track Record: You have a track record of expeditiously building transformative high impact consumer experiences

  • Strong Communicator: You communicate clearly and persuasively in multiple mediums with executives, stakeholders, peers, engineers, designers, and customers

  • Customer Champion: You are obsessed with understanding the customer, and ultimately building and transforming a product that delivers customer value

  • Business Savvy: You are hyper-focused on delivering and quantifying business long term impact. You are able to quickly understand market drivers, the competitive landscape, and strategic positioning.

  • Cross-Functional Player: You have worked with a diverse set of stakeholders to set expectations, report progress, and drive outcomes

You'll spend time doing the following:

  • Develop detailed product requirements based on market demand, customer and internal stakeholder input and manage those relationships to ensure that business objectives for both are realized

  • Communicate product requirements in ways that make sense in the context of an agile process (written, visual, direct conversation) in sufficient detail to allow developers to execute effectively

  • Partner with colleagues across the org (Product Management, PMO, Product Development, Marketing, Customer Care and other critical areas of our business) to ensure effective execution of our Search and Recommendation strategies across all channels (marketplace, email, push, etc)

  • Define key performance indicators and implement measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to gauge success and identify areas of improvement.

  • Engage and empathize with our customers to understand their problems and develop disruptive product solutions they didn't even know they wanted

  • Using customer feedback, market analysis and data driven decision making to define and execute product strategy

  • Adjusting and aligning your plans to company-wide OKRs to ensure your direction supports Groupon’s broader strategy

  • Get Things Done. Remove roadblocks and make connections for others; know when to roll up your sleeves and be a doer!

We're excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a data-related field

  • 5-7 years relevant industry and onsite search experience; including at least 5-7 years in Product Management

  • Self-starter, skill to execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an environment that promotes constant team communication

  • Excellent understanding of product development and how web and mobile technologies work

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills

  • General understanding of implementing Machine Learning and statistical modeling products or solutions

  • Previous B2C e-retail experience with a high-volume marketplace

  • Demonstrated experience in driving innovation to uncover new value and new experiences

  • Experience using analytics and data to make product decisions

  • Ability to adapt quickly to change

  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • A plus if you have MBA, or equivalent experience
