As a Software Development Engineer II with the Financial Systems Engineering team you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and rolling out new features, as well as maintaining and operating the platform. You will collaborate with various business partners to understand their needs and work with your team and others to define and deliver solutions. Your primary customers will include Groupon’s global controller and various business line partners across the company. In a typical week you may contribute to design and planning meetings, have numerous discussions with colleagues and business partners throughout the company, triage a particularly challenging issue, review a colleagues’ code and develop and deliver a new feature.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Work directly with the product manager and other engineers to build features that improve the effectiveness of our financial systems and processes.

  • Be able to work mostly independently, actively seek feedback from users and product managers.

  • Take ownership of an application’s features end-to-end. Be able to drive feature design, automated tests, code refactoring, all the way through delivery.

  • Be a strong advocate of best design practices.

  • Participate in a highly-collaborative engineering team; we are passionate about sharing ideas to constantly improve our work culture and the products we build.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience of 4+ years in professional software development.

  • Experience designing and implementing large, scalable distributed systems.

  • Highly proficient in Object Oriented programming (C#, Java, or similar).

  • Proficient in web programming (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, frameworks a plus).

  • Experience with relational database systems such as Mysql and Postgres.

  • Experience with data warehouse systems.

  • Previous financial systems development experience preferred.

  • Languages: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL

Must have:

  • Object Oriented programming experience (Java,C# or similar)

  • Teradata/PostgreSQL/MySQL/BigQuery (or similar database experience)

  • REST/JSON

  • JavaScript

  • Service-Oriented Architecture

  • GitHub

Nice to have: 

  • NetSuite

  • Python

  • Bash/shell scripting

  • Apache Airflow

  • Node/ExpressJS
