Groupon Tech and Product Team

Senior Product Manager

Ready to build products in a truly product-driven company? Are you passionate about using technology to change the world?

Groupon is an experiences marketplace that brings people more ways to get the most out of their city or wherever they may be. By enabling real-time mobile commerce across local businesses, live events and travel destinations, Groupon helps people find and discover experiences––big and small, new and familiar––that make for a full, fun and rewarding life. Groupon helps local businesses grow and strengthen customer relationships––resulting in strong, vibrant communities. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success.

Groupon is constantly expanding into new local experience categories. As part of the Discovery team, you will define and execute the vision and strategy for a frictionless and personalized search and browse experience, empowering users to find what they want, with the least effort and shortest amount of time.

In this role, your goal is to surface the most relevant and personalized local experiences to Groupon customers throughout the customer lifecycle, so that customers can fulfill their needs quickly and easily. You will analyze user needs, buying factors, and cultural differences across multiple countries and assess our competitive advantages in each unique region. You’ll be partnering with experts in machine learning, search and ranking across Engineering, Data Science, User Research, Design, and business teams and have a direct impact at a large-scale.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Driving and owning the end-to-end search and browse strategy and roadmap, creating personalized experiences that enable our users to confidently explore local businesses

  • Building relationships with teammates across product, data science, engineering, design, research, and all business organizations to align on priorities and deliver

  • Analyzing buying decisions and user behavior based on user interviews, feedback, product analytics, and conducting experiments to validate your hypotheses

  • Conduct market analysis to inform your strategy, and closely monitoring the latest trends and advocate for changes that keep us ahead of the competition

  • Provide a clear roadmap, guidance, and support enabling your team to regularly ship features with high business value and iterate quickly

  • Adjusting and aligning your plans to company-wide OKRs to ensure your direction supports Groupon’s broader strategy

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5-7 years relevant industry experience; including at least 3 years in Product Management

  • Experience working on personalization, with a preference for consumer products

  • Track records of conducting experiments, assessing their effectiveness, and making business impacts

  • Self-starter skill to execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Superior stakeholder management capabilities, the ability to work collaboratively in an ambiguous environment while promoting constant team communication

  • Technical fluency and excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent understanding of product development and how web and mobile technologies work

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills

  • Comfort calling the shots and enjoyment in leading changes

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on Search and/or Ranking platforms

  • Experience utilizing machine learning to develop product

  • BA/BS in computer science, statistics, engineering, software development experience or equivalent

  • MBA, or equivalent experience
