You will partner with the business to support the growth and change that we see every single day at Groupon. We work in various Centers of Excellence across the globe and collaborate together to build from scratch and provide guidance to our partners around the organization. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each line of business; yet there are still plenty of ways to impact, change, or improve how our team works.
As an Employee Relations (ER) Specialist, your role will be to support a small but critical ER team at Groupon. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Human Resourcesyou will have the opportunity to work on a range of items including updating ER Policies & Procedures, advising stakeholders across all HR issues (absence, disciplinary, grievances), and working on Global projects. No one day is the same! You will be responsible for translating the vision and ER strategy to actionable steps as well as working with the Groupon European Works Council.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Facilitate the European Works Council activities including the preparation of all relevant mandatory meetings and the continuous review of its appropriate composition while ensuring a constructive social dialogue with its members.

  • Lead and, if necessary, conduct employee investigations (inclusive of, but not limited to harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and hostile work environment claims). 

  • Work closely with the HRBP team to provide a consistent approach in addressing employee relations / disciplinary issues across the company or as consistent as possible understanding where it needs to be different.

  • Facilitate the compliant rollout of business initiatives and projects by ensuring that all legal and ER requirements are met (Including, but not limited to, by preparing local discussion with employee representatives, ensuring a consistent approach across INTL,partner closely with the legal team etc)

  • Create and facilitate ER related trainings for all managers and leadership teams 

  • Track and analyze ER situations across the company to provide action planning where trends are seen.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR initiatives, policies and procedures by providing ER input. 

  • In conjunction with the legal department, stay up to date on labor law and update policy and others within HR as appropriate.



We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 2-3 years of experience in ER disciplines including investigations, grievances, and disciplinary

  • You’re an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing, with the ability to customize your approach based on your audience

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders

  • Results-oriented and hands-on approach and a self-starter who can execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • ​You demonstrate extreme comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt prior experience to the Groupon landscape and culture

  • Provide recommendations with sound judgement and data-based decisions
