Business Analyst Lead

Description

Groupon is a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

The Business Analyst Lead is a key member of Groupon’s Global Revenue Management team.  The person who fills this role will play a key part in delivering strategic business insights and analytics in support of Groupon’s global operations and focus on leading the INTL side of business.

The role requires the ability to pivot quickly between a changing canvas of tools, data pipelines, and reporting requirements, as well as an ability to engage in robust “big picture” cross functional conversations.  This role will require vigilant prioritization and collaboration across various teams to drive change and improve profitability.

Senior leadership will rely on this role to be a go-to data and analytics expert on all aspects of traffic and financial results across Groupon's key channels.  This person will have to be comfortable with the details, while able to summarize the salient points across a wide range of topics.

You'll be spending your time on the following:

  • Build ground up reporting solutions using various tools (SQL, hive, Tableau, etc) to help answer business questions for senior leadership and key stakeholders across finance, marketing, engineering, etc.

  • Partner with Groupon’s key data engineering teams to establish and leverage a deep understanding of critical data assets, as well as data pipelines, to further enhance analytical processes.

  • Analyze key performance metrics across all channels of distribution and traffic sources for Groupon, including category and deal level portfolio optimization.

  • Analyze raw and aggregate internal data to help evaluate drivers including customer purchase patterns, seasonality impacts, traffic channel level productivity (owned vs paid), as well as other critical business objectives.

  • Partner with key business stakeholders to define near, mid and long-term implications of key analyses, including Central Revenue Management, Marketing, Relevance, Finance and others.

We're excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics or equivalent required; graduate/advanced degree preferred (MS/MBA)

  • 7+ years of relevant business experience, preferably in an analytically rigorous role

  • Ability to manipulate data and derive insights from complex datasets

  • Expert knowledge of SQL or other database language and Tableau a plus

  • Experience with scripting languages and/or statistical software (R/Python/SAS) is a big plus

  • Demonstrated ability to lead data driven operational process change

  • Familiarity with data infrastructure and cloud architecture a plus

  • Strategic program development and big picture thinking in consumer e-commerce data/analytic initiatives

  • Familiarity with key business metrics – solid analytical expertise, familiarity with multivariate testing frameworks a plus

  • Highly flexible, ability to handle changing directions/priorities and roles as business needs evolve

  • Proven problem solving skills; systematic, analytical thinker

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
